The Cumberland County Health Department confirms several cases of the flu going around as they prepare for what officials say will be an active flu season. The Centers for Disease Control says getting a flu vaccine can reduce the risk of getting sick with the flu by about 50 to 60 percent. The flu season may begin as early as September and last as late as spring. Flu shots are especially recommended for children, the elderly and for those who have a low immunity system.
