Cumberland County deputies learned of a phone scam yesterday. A resident in his late 70’s informed them he was contacted by who he thought was a friend on Facebook asking for money for a program aiding retired police officers. The victim sent a total of $2,000 in just over a month to locations in Texas, South Carolina and Florida. The victim later found out his friend could not access a computer at the time and his friends account was probably hacked.
