A former Roane County constable was arrested Monday. Officers say 59-year-old Mark Arwood Patton was taken into custody for aggravated burglary and aggravated assault. The alleged victim reportedly suffered lacerations to his head, a fractured bone in his eye socket and a broken nose after Patton attacked him with a large stick. Patton served as constable for several years before he was relieved of his duty in Roane County back in 2012 when the county commission voted to do away with the constable position.
