HIGHWAY PATROL RESPONDS TO ACCIDENTS ON I-40

The Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to several accidents Saturday night in Cumberland County.

Two of the reports include:

A 2016 Freightliner tractor-trailer operated by 36-year-old Mohamed Souman from Michigan was traveling east on I-40 between mile markers 325 and 340 when the vehicle traveled off the shoulder and hit an embankment and overturned. The driver stated he hit a slick spot and lost control.

A 2019 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by 35-year-old Sayed Badehzada of Ashburn, Virginia and a 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 operated by 36-year-old Troy Turman of Nashville were both traveling west on I-40 at the 333 mile marker when Badehzada lost control and collided with Turman. The tractor-trailer jackknifed and the pickup truck struck a rock embankment. Neither driver was hurt. Badehzada was charged with failure to exercise due care and Turman for driving on an expired registration.
