Cumberland County, TN – A safe place for children who have to testify in court was made last week. This room helps create a safe place for children instead of sitting on a bench in the hallway. Beforehand, the people children were testifying against were able to be in the same area as them, making them feel intimidated or uncomfortable while waiting to testify. They hope by creating this safe room, children will be less anxious or stressed.

The kid’s room is outside Courtroom One. It includes comfortable seating, warm lighting, books, games, and fidget toys. There is an area for children of many different ages.

The room was helped created by The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, The Fairfield Glade Rotary Club, the House of Hope, the Cumberland County school system, and others.
