The cause of a deadly house fire in Roane County remains under investigation.

Firefighters responded to a residence on Eagle Furnace Road last week and saw flames coming from the home.

Crews found the body of Steven James Thomas in the dwelling after the fire was extinguished.

A preliminary investigation does not indicate any foul play and could be an accidental fire.

The TBI is assisting the Roane County Sheriff’s Office in the case.
