CROSSVILLE CONSIDERING ORDINANCE TO PREVENT BUS DROPS AT ABANDONED AREAS

The City of Crossville is considering an ordinance that penalizes private charter business vehicles up to $50 for each delivery to unopened businesses or could possibly outright deny the charter business from operating within city limits.

The ordinance will demand businesses obtain bus stop location permits, with new forms to be filed upon moving or closing.

Crossville City Attorney Randall York believed $50 wouldn’t be enough, as he said people would just ignore the ordinance and pay the fine anyway.

City Manager Valerie Hale didn’t name any specific business but did allude to the business being a franchise rather than locally owned.

The ordinance will be brought before the city council next week on Aug. 13 at their regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m.
