PUTNAM COUNTY REGISTER OF DEEDS WARNS OF NEW SCAM

An official statement by John Sanders, the Putnam County Register of Deeds says they have become aware that property owners in the Putnam area have been receiving an “official-looking” letter that states that they (the official-looking company) can provide property owners with a copy of their recorded deed and a property profile of their property for a considerable price. The letter will look important and official but it IS NOT! Citizens are advised to disregard such letters.

Sanders said he wanted to let citizens know they can get a copy of their deed, or anything about their property at the Putnam County Courthouse at NO COST as a Putnam County landowner, ANYTIME it is needed.

The Register of Deeds office also offers a property fraud alert notification website for all citizens of Putnam County for FREE! www.mylandalert.com. After signing up with my land alert, if any document that is recorded in the register’s office matches the owner’s name or their business name, they will be notified at the email address they provided. My land alert will send an email of what was recorded. This service helps to notify the citizens of Putnam County of any possible property fraud.

Our office is located at 300 East Spring Street RM #3. in Cookeville, TN 38501.
