CREDIT CARD SKIMMER FOUND AT FOOD CITY GAS N’ GO IN FAIRFIELD GLADE

On March 20, 2025, Deputy Fatima Pena of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report about a skimmer device found inside a pump at the Gas’N Go, reported through the Fairfield Glade Police Department. Upon arrival, Deputy Pena observed individuals near pump #9, where one showed her the skimmer, attached with black tape and using Bluetooth technology. He explained its function and noted a similar device had been found at another Gas’N Go location, suggesting removal would disconnect it and stop data theft.
Deputy Pena called in Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Investigators, who arrived to examine the device with her. After making inquiries, they decided to remove the skimmer, bag it as evidence, and contact the Secret Service. The device was removed and placed in evidence locker number two.
Loudon County Sheriff’s Office later contacted Deputy Pena, reporting a similar skimmer found in their jurisdiction and an ongoing investigation that identified suspects linked to a group installing these devices and using stolen card information to buy diesel fuel. Deputy Pena recalled a related case involving Yordankys Baragano, arrested for credit card fraud and other charges, who claimed to work with Amazon filling fuel tanks. She shared this with Loudon County Investigator Brian Jenkins, and they exchanged information. Jenkins provided contact details for Secret Service agent Leslie Cockren, whom Deputy Pena informed about the incident. Cockren indicated the device might yield useful data and promised to send further instructions by Monday on where to send it for analysis.
