HIGHLIGHTS FROM ROCKWOOD CITY COUNCIL MEETING

The Rockwood City Council met in a regular session Monday evening March 24th with all members present. Items they discussed on the agenda and approved were to accept Mitchell Emmert and Hill CPA of Knoxville for next year’s annual audit for a cost of around $42,500 which is a 7% increase over last year and this was approved.

Also approved was for Mayor Jason Jolly to appoint a committee to study the 11 requests for proposals from companies who want to be involved in doing a hotel motel study for the city.

Also approving a taxi cab service agreement that includes updating their ordinance regulating taxi service for the city changing from five passengers to nine according to the state statutes, and anyone who wishes to operate a taxi service within the city must have a stationary office or dispatch center which would be located in the city and would need to be registered with the city.

The council also approved hiring Jacob Cofer as a Rockwood police officer as well as waving the 5-day rule to allow the fire department to purchase a new industrial-size washer and dryer for the fire department at a cost of around $20,500.
