FAIRFIELD MAN BECOMES VICTIM OF $33,000 BANK FRAUD
On April 5, 2025, Officer Nikolas Brendel of the Fairfield Glade Police Department received a fraud report from a man who reported that on April 2, 2025, $33,000 was unauthorizedly withdrawn from his Regions bank account by “Barclays Bank De Collection” under the name Randal Bellamy.
Prior to this, there were four smaller unauthorized withdrawals: $0.27 and $0.32 on March 19, 2025, and $0.85 and $0.89 on March 24, 2025, all to “Bankaozk” by Kathy Zmudzinski.
Additionally, on April 3, 2025, 124 of the victim’s email contacts received a fraudulent email from his account about a “party” with a suspicious e-card, which he did not send. He is advising recipients not to open it.
Officer Brendel advised the victim to change his passwords, consider two-step authentication, and report the incident on IC3.gov. He also noted that his bank covered the lost funds.
