OVERTON WOMAN KILLED IN CRASH INVOLVING A DEER ON SUNDAY

As originally reported by WJLE, a 50-year-old woman, Jimmie Allen, died in a crash on Highway 70 in Overton County, early Sunday at 12:48 a.m. The 2017 Ford F150, driven by 55-year-old Charles Smith, hit a deer, veered off the road, climbed an embankment, and overturned, landing upside down across both lanes. Allen, not wearing a seatbelt, was partially ejected through the sunroof and died.
The other passengers, Stanley Hammock (54), Travis Murphy (37), and Amanda Porter (46), were in the vehicle. Porter was airlifted to Vanderbilt Hospital, Smith was taken to Ascension Saint Thomas DeKalb Hospital, and Hammock and Murphy were uninjured.
Emergency services, including the DeKalb County Fire Department, sheriff’s deputies, DeKalb EMS, and Tennessee Highway Patrol, responded.
