PROCLAMATIONS AND HONORS AT CROSSVILLE CITY COUNCIL MEETING
The regular meeting of the City of Crossville opened with a prayer, followed by the presentation of colors and the Pledge of Allegiance led by the Young Marines.
During proclamations and presentations, the council recognized City Employee of the Quarter Jeremy DeRossett for his strong leadership and hands-on efforts during the Palace Auditorium renovation, which resulted in significant cost savings for the city.
Two students from Crossville Schools were also honored: Dylan McKie was named March 2026 Student of the Month for consistently demonstrating fairness by treating all peers with kindness and equity, serving as an inclusive leader in his school house, and going out of his way to welcome and support every student. Ezra Buck was named April 2026 Student of the Month for exemplifying good citizenship and showing the true spirit of democracy through his daily actions.
Mayor R.J. Crawford issued a proclamation declaring April 2026 as Safe Digging Month. The proclamation stressed the importance of calling 811 before any digging project to locate underground utility lines, thereby preventing service interruptions, environmental damage, personal injury, or even death. The Mayor encouraged all residents to adopt safe digging habits—calling 811 in advance, waiting for markings, and carefully digging around them—as a shared community responsibility to stay safe and connected.
