ADIENT FACILITY IN ATHENS TO CLOSE, 210 WORKERS TO BE AFFECTED
The Adient facility on Madison Avenue in Athens, Tennessee (McMinn County) is scheduled to close on June 30, 2026, resulting in the loss of 210 jobs. The company formally notified the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development’s Dislocated Worker Unit on Monday via a WARN notice.
The McMinn County Economic Development Authority expressed sympathy for the affected employees and their families, acknowledging Adient’s long-standing presence in the community. The EDA stated it is working with state partners and the local workforce development board to provide support and assistance to the displaced workers.
Adient is a global manufacturer of automotive seats. According to the notice, the affected employees do not have a collective bargaining agreement or bumping rights, and the Southeast Local Workforce Development Area rapid response team has been activated to help with the transition.
