KNOX COUNTY SHERIFF’S SERGEANT FIRED AFTER STEALING $1,400 FROM FOOD CITY IN 26 THEFTS

Multiple outlets have reported that a Knox County Sheriff’s Office sergeant has been fired following theft charges. Benjamin Munro was terminated on Friday, according to the sheriff’s office, which confirmed the news on Monday. Court documents allege that Munro stole from a Knoxville Food City more than 20 times, with surveillance video showing him involved in 26 separate theft incidents at self-checkout registers.
He reportedly failed to scan merchandise before bagging it and used a common scam of placing lower-priced items over higher-value goods to scan only the cheaper price, concealing the rest. In total, he is accused of stealing approximately $1,400 worth of items and now faces charges of theft and computer offenses.
