WEEKEND CRASHES PROLONG TRAFFIC CHAOS ON I-40 FOLLOWING MULTIPLE FRIDAY ACCIDENTS

Following a chaotic Friday marked by multiple major accidents, traffic disruptions across the county persisted through the weekend due to additional crashes on Interstate 40. On Saturday, eastbound lanes near Kingston saw two separate bottlenecks: first, a three-vehicle collision near the 352 mile marker at 1:00 p.m., followed by a two-vehicle incident near the 355 mile marker at 5:00 p.m. While these Saturday accidents caused significant delays for travelers, authorities confirmed that no serious injuries were reported in either case.

These weekend events compounded the congestion from the previous day, which included a multi-hour delay caused by two tractor-trailers colliding at the 353 mile marker. Friday’s transit issues were further complicated by two additional interstate accidents and a dump truck rollover at the Pine Ridge Road and Highway 70 interchange in Midtown during the evening commute. In light of this elevated accident activity, local authorities continue to urge motorists to exercise extreme caution, particularly when navigating construction zones and high-traffic corridors.
