Regional Forecast — Cumberland Plateau & Tennessee Valley
Summer heat will peak Thursday before a more active weather pattern returns. Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected from Friday through early next week, bringing cooler temperatures and increased cloud cover by Monday.
Thursday: Sunny and hot. Highs around 87 on the Cumberland Plateau and 91 in the Tennessee Valley. Heat index values in the Valley may reach the upper 90s.
Thursday Night: Mostly clear and mild. Lows around 70 to 71.
Friday: Showers and thunderstorms developing during the afternoon. Highs around 85 on the Plateau and 89 in the Valley. Chance of rain 80 percent.
Friday Night: Showers and thunderstorms gradually diminish during the evening. Patchy fog may develop late across portions of the Plateau. Lows around 64 to 67. Chance of rain 30 to 80 percent.
