ROANE COUNTY RELEASES JUNE 2026 RUNDOWN

The Roane County Executive’s office has announced several key administrative updates and upcoming events for June 2026. A County Commission Workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, June 23, at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the proposed FY2027 budget, which will be followed by a public hearing and special committee and commission approval meetings on Thursday, June 25, starting at 6:00 p.m.

In personnel news, Kelli Broyles has been appointed as the new Interim Records Manager, and Whitney Deakins will step into the role of Executive Administrative Assistant to the County Executive on June 29. Residents should note that the Courthouse will be closed from Thursday, June 18, through Sunday, June 21, for a scheduled power outage while REU installs a new dedicated transformer.

Looking ahead, an Employee Appreciation Day luncheon is planned for Friday, June 26, at the Courthouse, and a “Sharing the Spirit of America” event will take place at the Historic “Old” Roane County Courthouse on Wednesday, July 8, at 6:00 p.m.

Concurrently, the Roane County Health Department reports a highly productive fiscal year, seeing a 32.53% increase in official patient encounters through April 2026 compared to the same period last year, alongside overwhelmingly positive patient satisfaction surveys. The department is actively engaged in community outreach, which includes preparing educational topics for the Roane County Juvenile Probation summer CAMP program, sponsoring breastfeeding and baby changing stations at the United Way Fair, and participating in a Community-Wide Pediatric Safety Event and a Department of Energy emergency preparedness exercise.

To expand its community services, the health department has launched the “Smile on 65+” dental program for older adults, had staff attend an Alzheimer’s workshop to support their Dementia Navigation program, and is currently involved in a working group to leverage Rural Health Transformation Grant funding.

Additionally, the department extended its gratitude to Roane County Parks employees for assisting with a storage building repositioning and noted that the County Director and staff are currently precepting students from Carson Newman University and a Master’s in Public Health program.
