THUNDERSTORMS INTERRUPT AN OTHERWISE WARM EARLY-SUMMER PATTERN

Regional Forecast — Cumberland Plateau & Tennessee Valley

Warm, breezy conditions will continue through Wednesday before a cold front brings widespread showers and thunderstorms Thursday into Juneteenth. Drier and cooler weather returns for Saturday, but rain chances increase again by Sunday.

Wednesday: Sunny, warm, and breezy. Highs around 84 on the Cumberland Plateau and 87 in the Tennessee Valley. South to southwest winds 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.

Wednesday Night: Increasing clouds and mild. Lows around 70 on the Plateau and 72 in the Valley. Southwest winds may gust as high as 25 mph.

Thursday: Showers and thunderstorms becoming widespread during the afternoon. Highs around 82 on the Plateau and 85 in the Valley. Gusty southwest winds. Chance of rain 80 to 90 percent.

Thursday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, with periods of rain continuing overnight. Patchy fog may develop across portions of the Plateau. Lows around 66 on the Plateau and 68 in the Valley. Chance of rain 70 to 80 percent.

Juneteenth (Friday): Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially during the morning and midday hours. Highs around 80 on the Plateau and 84 in the Valley. Chance of rain 50 percent.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy and cooler. Patchy late-night fog is possible on the Plateau. Lows around 58 on the Plateau and 60 in the Valley.

Saturday: Sunny and pleasant. Highs around 83 on the Plateau and 86 in the Valley.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear. Lows around 62 on the Plateau and 64 in the Valley.

Sunday: Mostly sunny with showers and thunderstorms developing during the afternoon. Highs around 83 on the Plateau and 87 in the Valley. Chance of rain 50 percent.
