CROSSVILLE MAN FACES ASSAULT AND WEAPON CHARGES FOLLOWING CHRISTMAS DAY ALTERCATION

A Crossville man is scheduled to appear in Cumberland County General Sessions Court on July 9, 2026, following a violent Christmas Day altercation that resulted in multiple criminal charges, including aggravated assault and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

Michael Allen Bible, of Crossville, faces charges stemming from an incident on December 25, 2025. According to court dockets and affidavits of complaint filed by Support Patrol Officer Matthew Charlock of the Crossville Police Department, the incident took place at a residence located on Willow Street.

According to police reports, officers responded to the scene after Bible allegedly initiated a physical altercation. Victims informed responding officers that Bible approached a victim in the kitchen, stared at him, and began yelling in his face. After briefly returning to his bedroom, Bible allegedly re-entered the kitchen and physically assaulted that same victim.

When two others attempted to intervene and pull Bible off the victim, Bible reportedly drew a handgun from his waistband and held it directly against one victim’s stomach. Following the confrontation, Bible allegedly fled the residence and discarded the firearm on the ground outside.

Bible was later located by county authorities on E. First Street. Upon being read his Miranda rights, Bible declined to make a statement to law enforcement.

Further investigation and local court records confirmed that Bible is a convicted felon, leading to an additional charge of unlawful weapon possession.

The specific charges filed against Bible include:

  • Aggravated Assault (TCA 39-13-102)

  • Assault – Physical Contact (TCA 39-13-101)

  • Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon (TCA 39-17-1307)

Bible is being represented by defense attorney Howard Upchurch. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
