DETAILS RELEASED ON STATE TROOPER COLLISION ON LANTANA ROAD IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY
An 83-year-old Tennessee driver was injured on Tuesday following a rear-end collision involving a Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) vehicle on State Route 101.
According to a preliminary report from the THP, the incident occurred on July 14, 2026, on Lantana Road in Cumberland County.
Both vehicles involved were traveling northbound on Lantana Road when the secondary vehicle, a 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan driven by 83-year-old Carol Bilbrey, began slowing down for traffic. The THP vehicle—a 2025 Ford Explorer driven by 31-year-old Trooper Drew Mitchell—struck the rear end of Bilbrey’s SUV.
Note: Neither driver faced initial charges at the scene, though investigations into state-related collisions typically remain open pending final review. Neither vehicle carried passengers at the time of the crash.
