A Roane County jury has found 62-year-old Victor Dale Moore guilty on all counts of child rape and aggravated sexual battery, concluding an unusual trial that was significantly delayed when Moore fled the state mid-proceedings.

Moore, who represented himself after firing his court-appointed attorneys, disappeared following the first day of his trial on July 28, 2026. The press release detailing his conviction issued glowing remarks on Flock automated license plate reader technology, which they claim led to his apprehension in Georgia.

Following his extradition back to Tennessee, the trial resumed, leading to today’s guilty verdicts on:

District Attorney General Russell Johnson’s office praised the resilience of the young victim and her mother, as well as the exceptional patience of the jurors who returned to complete their civic duty after the unexpected interruption.

Moore faces a sentence of 25 to 60 years for the rape conviction and 8 to 12 years for each count of aggravated sexual battery, with 100% service required, followed by community supervision for life.

Sentencing is scheduled for September 29, 2026, in Loudon County Criminal Court before Judge Jeffrey Wicks.
