TARGET AND HOME DEPOT SET OCTOBER OPENINGS IN COOKEVILLE
The long-awaited Willows shopping center in Cookeville is opening this October, anchored by two of the region’s most requested retail giants. Located at the southeast corner of South Willow Avenue and Interstate 40, the multi-phase development will kick off with events for The Home Depot, followed closely by the debut of a sprawling new Target location.
Opening Schedule
-
October 7: The Home Depot hosts a public community Neighborhood Night featuring food trucks, live music, and giveaways.
-
October 8: The Home Depot official grand opening.
-
October 11: Target opens its 128,000-square-foot facility, creating over 150 jobs with an in-store Starbucks Café, CVS Pharmacy, and digital fulfillment services.
Future Additions
-
McDonald’s and Chuy’s: Building permits have been issued, though official opening dates remain unannounced.
-
In-N-Out Burger: The popular chain has received preliminary site plan approval with no construction timeline yet established.
Local leaders note that securing Target and Home Depot proves Putnam County’s market viability, shifting its regional draw from a local population of 85,000 to a broader regional trade area of 350,000. Officials emphasize that the development will keep valuable sales tax revenue within the local economy while paving the way for future commercial growth.
