Emergency crews safely hoisted a man from a steep ravine on Pinnacle Way in Jamestown on September 3, 2026, after his lawn mower went over a cliff.

Fentress County Emergency Services—comprising EMS, Fire, Rescue, EMA, and the Sheriff’s Office—dispatched personnel to the scene at approximately 11:12 a.m. Due to the severe terrain, high heat, and potential for a prolonged operation, mutual-aid resources were initially requested from Cumberland County and the Crossville City Fire Department.

Responders navigated the challenging landscape to reach the patient, initiating immediate medical care while rigging a low-angle rope rescue system. As the operation advanced, incident commanders determined that local resources were adequate, allowing responding mutual-aid units to be canceled before arrival.

Leadership across multiple county departments commended the coordinated effort.

“Everyone worked together with one goal—safely reaching the patient while protecting our responders,” said Fentress County Fire Department Chief Larry Cooper.

Fentress County EMS Director Daniel Coleman and Sheriff Hunter Fowler both joined responders on the ground to assist with the technical rescue and patient care.

“In situations like this, titles and patches take a back seat,” Coleman stated.

Fentress County Executive Jacob Rosenbaum, who observed the operation on-site, praised the bravery and professionalism displayed by all involved agencies in safeguarding the county’s residents.
