FAMILY FEUD AT EXPRESS TOWING ESCALATES TO SCISSOR ASSAULT AND TRUCK RAMMING IN CROSSVILLE
A family dispute at a towing business on West Avenue turned chaotic on September 23, 2026, resulting in a violent confrontation involving a pair of scissors, a kick to the chest, and a pickup truck intentionally rammed into a car.
According to the Crossville Police Department incident report, officers responded to the business at approximately 11:38 AM following reports of a physical fight and a firearm. Investigators reviewing video surveillance determined the altercation began when Javier Simmons entered the office and started a heated argument with his step-grandfather over a family matter.

The Escalation: During the argument, Javier punched the step-grandfather in the face. Family member Roy Jernigan (known as “Brother”) then grabbed a pair of office scissors and approached Javier aggressively, opening and closing them in a threatening manner.

The Vehicle Ramming: After being separated and kicked during a scuffle, Roy Jernigan ran to the back of the business, got into a white Ford F-150, and accelerated at a high rate of speed across the parking lot—slamming directly into the driver-side rear of Javier’s black Chevy.

Firearm Involved: During the aftermath, Javier searched for a gun to confront Jernigan. His wife temporarily hid the firearm in her waistband to prevent further violence before returning it to the vehicle and cooperating with police. EMS treated her on the scene due to the impact of the vehicle ramming.

The Arrests: Both primary parties face criminal charges. Javier Simmons was arrested and charged with Domestic Assault, while Roy Jernigan was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault.
Both suspects were booked into the Cumberland County Justice Center following the investigation.
