SERIES OF TRACTOR-TRAILER CRASHES CAUSES MAJOR DELAYS ON I-40 EASTBOUND IN ROANE COUNTY

Travelers facing eastbound Interstate 40 in Roane County are experiencing severe delays today following a succession of tractor-trailer crashes.
The traffic snarl began late Monday night at approximately 11:30 PM when an empty tractor-trailer rolled over at the 357-mile marker eastbound, though the driver escaped injury. The situation intensified Tuesday afternoon with a rear-end collision involving two more semi-trucks just past the Kingston exit. Compounding the gridlock, a second tractor-trailer rollover occurred at the exact same 357-mile marker by 3:30 PM Tuesday.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported from any of the incidents. Drivers should anticipate heavy delays and very slow moving traffic between the 350 and 360-mile markers, and are urged to exercise caution when navigating the affected area.
