NEW DETAILS RELEASED ON LAST WEEK’S AIRCRAFT LANDING GEAR EMERGENCY

A twin-engine aircraft successfully landed at 138 Airport Way following a landing gear malfunction on Friday morning, October 23, 2026.
According to new details provided today by Crossville Fire and Rescue Chief Chris South, the pilot declared an emergency after suspecting the nose gear failed to deploy. Emergency dispatch logged the initial alert at approximately 10:04 AM, giving first responders a 20-minute advance warning to mobilize resources, including Medic 460 and regional EMS standby units like Life Force.
Per instructions from emergency personnel, the pilot spent time burning off fuel by circling the area before attempting the landing. The aircraft touched down safely while the pilot skillfully kept the nose up as long as possible. The nose eventually impacted the ground gently before sliding to a controlled stop.
Chief South praised the pilot’s actions, calling the landing “incredible” and “exceptional.” The incident resulted in no injuries, no fire, and no fuel leaks.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) conducted a preliminary investigation at the scene, and airport staff subsequently cleared the aircraft. The runway was temporarily shut down for two hours before normal operations resumed.
