According to court filings and Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office reports, Officer Aidyn Smith responded to a call at the residence, where deputies encountered Laycock—who initially attempted to give a false identity. Officers subsequently discovered a loaded revolver within reach of her 5-year-old daughter, alongside severe living conditions, unsecured prescription medication, and evidence of neglect.
Laycock, represented by attorney Joseph Wyatt, faces the following charges:
  • Child Abuse/Neglect/Endangerment ($100,000 bond)
  • Reckless Endangerment Involving a Deadly Weapon ($75,000 bond)
  • Possession of a Weapon as a Convicted Felon ($75,000 bond)
  • Possession of a Handgun While Under the Influence ($5,000 bond)
  • Criminal Impersonation ($5,000 bond)
  • Resisting Stop, Arrest, or Search ($5,000 bond)
Following the initial intervention by the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services, the child was taken into protective custody. Laycock is currently held on a combined bond of $265,000 as proceedings move forward in General Sessions Court.
