BLACK LIVES MATTER RALLY IN COOKEVILLE PROVES TO BE PEACEFUL
A Black Lives Matter rally at Tennessee Tech University became a rally cry for peace instead of what was to have thought to have been a racially charged event. TTU’s Alpha Phi Alpha, an African American fraternity, sponsored the event which brought together blacks and whites. Publicity arose around concern over a rumor that the group planned to block traffic on Dixie Ave in protest of the street’s name. In fact, the phrase, Black Lives Matter was used sparingly as those attending got together in a show of peace, prayer and positive attitudes.
