ASSISTANT DISTRICT ATTORNEY PHILIP HATCH NAMED 2016 DUI PROSECUTOR OF THE YEAR
From District Attorney General Bryant C. Dunaway:
I am very glad to announce that Assistant District Attorney Philip A. Hatch was recognized as the 2016 DUI Prosecutor of the Year by the Tennessee District Attorneys General. The award was given to General Hatch at the annual prosecutors conference. Hatch prosecuted some notable cases which included State v. Kenneth McCormick, a DUI case out of White County, TN that went all the way to the Tennessee Supreme Court and became a significant case in Tennessee law by recognizing the community care taking role of law enforcement officers (and not insignificantly – upholding the conviction of the impaired driver).
In another case, General Hatch was the first prosecutor in Tennessee to get a conviction for reckless homicide in a case where a driver of a semi-truck ran into the rear end of a car killing the occupant due to the driver of the semi-truck being fatigued or asleep and also falsifying his log book.
