AFTER BEING MISSING FOR 24 HOURS, MAN FOUND BY AUTHORITIES
After a 24 hour search, a Cumberland County man reported missing was found around mid-afternoon today. Yesterday, Cumberland County authorities as well as the rescue squad were called to an area off of Sunset Ridge where 73-year-old Arthur “Pete” Peterson was reported missing. Officers say Peterson was last seen by his wife walking down their property line of 20 acres. A tracking dog from the Crossville Police Department, a helicopter from the Tennessee Highway Patrol and a drone were all used to try to locate Peterson yesterday with no results because of the rough terrain and heavily wooded area. Crews searched into the evening and intensified their search this morning with temperatures expected to be in the mid to upper 80’s today to find Peterson. At 2:05 pm today, an official radioed searchers saying Peterson had been located between his property line and Scott’s Creek. Tactical crews responded around 3 p.m. to help Peterson from the wooded area up to an awaiting ambulance. His condition was not available by authorities but according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department, Peterson will be treated for hypothermia and other medical issues.
