ALABAMA REMAINS NUMBER ONE IN POLL, GEORGIA JUMPS TO FIVE AFTER BLOWOUT OF TENNESSEE
The week 5 AP Top 25 was released this afternoon (Sunday, October 1, 2017). Four SEC teams were listed in the Top 25 after the fifth full weekend of the 2017 football season.
Alabama remained the SEC’s top team following a dominating 66-3 win against Ole Miss at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday night.
Georgia turned in perhaps the conference’s best performance of the weekend, flashing brilliance in all facets of the game during a 41-0 road victory at Tennessee. For as good as the Bulldogs looked, Butch Jones’ Vols squad looked equally as bad.
Auburn continued to impress in conference play with a blowout win against Mississippi State. Mississippi State, meanwhile, dropped out of the top 25 after their second consecutive loss in SEC play.
Florida took care of business at home against Vanderbilt with a 31-17 victory, but the Gators did lose starting QB Luke Del Rio for the season after he was injured in the game.
LSU turned in the most embarrassing performance of the weekend, dropping a night game in Death Valley to Sun Belt opponent Troy. As a result, Ed Orgeron’s Tigers also dropped out of the rankings this week.
