ALMOST $5,000 WORTH OF TOOLS STOLEN FROM CUMBERLAND MOUNTAIN STATE PARK

On Saturday, April 30 officers responded to the Cumberland Mountain State Park who claimed about $4,900 worth of items had been stolen.

Later that day, a Park Ranger heard two male voices talking on the frequency the State Park uses. The men had mentioned they were talking on state radios.  Two radios had been stolen and it seemed that they were talking about meeting in the ditch area where one of them lived. He heard one of the men call the other one “Bob”. State Park Ranger knew of Bob Sapp and decided to drive by his residence at the time the two men had talked about. When law enforcement showed up, they encountered Robert Sapp who consented to let them follow him into his basement and crawlspace. They found all items that were stolen from State Park except two chainsaws and two light bars. Other items that were stolen include drills, radios, weed eater, backpack blower, and hand tools. Bob told officers that these items were brought to him, but refused to tell them who it was. He stated he had traded for these items.

Sapp did return the other two chainsaws at a later time.

This case is pending and will be brought before the Cumberland County Grand Jury.
