ANTIOCH MAN ARRESTED FOR DUI IN CROSSVILLE

On May 19, 2025, Deputy Devyne Templeton observed a white sedan driven by Francisco Fermin Jalal, a 43-year-old non-resident of Antioch, swerving on Interstate 40 EB at mile marker 340 in Crossville. Upon stopping the vehicle, Deputy Templeton noted an open, cold Modelo beer bottle in the center console, the smell of alcohol, and Jalal’s red, watery, bloodshot eyes.
Jalal admitted to consuming six beers. Due to a language barrier, initial Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs) were not conducted. Jalal was arrested for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and taken to Cumberland County Jail.
An inventory of the vehicle revealed an open Modelo beer bottle and an unopened six-pack. At the jail, with assistance from Inv. Pena for translation, Jalal performed SFSTs, showing signs of impairment (lack of smooth pursuit and nystagmus in the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test, and balance issues in the walk-and-turn test).
A search warrant was granted, and two vials of Jalal’s blood were collected as evidence. He was charged with DUI, with a court date set for June 16, 2025, and a bond of $3,000.
