ASSAULT, BURGLARY REPORTED IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home on the 400 block of Claysville Road yesterday for a report of an assault. The resident claimed a neighbor had slapped her, allegedly over derogatory comments. The purported slapper admitted to the assault and was subsequently banned from the victim’s property.

The victim was evaluated by EMS at the scene but refused transport for medical attention.

Meanwhile, the victim asked to file a report about a burglary two weeks earlier. She said that on or around November 11, someone forced entry into her home and stole several items. The woman said the home was subsequently destroyed in a fire. She identified three likely suspects in the burglary and claimed to have firsthand knowledge that some of her belongings are at a home up the road.

The stolen items include a Dewalt nail gun, a Kobalt air compressor valued at $400 and approximately $1,000 in assorted DVD movies.

The incident is under investigation.
