ATTORNEY SUES REU AND CITY OF ROCKWOOD OVER DAMAGE DONE TO BUILDING
A Rockwood attorney and his sister are suing Rockwood Electric Utility and the City of Rockwood. Attorney James Smith owns the building along West Rockwood St. where a new office for the utility is under construction. The lawsuit, filed Sept. 26th in Circuit Court, claims the Contract Company Johnson and Galyon, who began demolition of the old Bilbrey Furniture store building last November, caused extensive damage to Smith’s building. Smith and his sister Susanne Fisher, are seeking $84,000 in damages. The building is located in the historic part of Rockwood and Smith says the lawsuit is not personal. He just wants the company to be responsible for the damage.
