AUTHORITIES WARN AGAINST “MYSTERY SHOPPER” SCAM

Authorities are warning residents of another email scam which concerns recruiting them into becoming “mystery shoppers” or “survey takers”. The emails detail how money orders will be sent out for deposit into your bank account. Then a small portion will stay with you and you are instructed to take the remainder to your local Walmart or Sam’s Club, make a small purchase and then go purchase a money gram and send them all of the information, along with a survey on the service of the employees. They also request you to do some undercover work at designated stores. They offer to pay for your gas, and you can keep the purchases. Do not fall for these tricks. They are illegal and, most likely, are funding illegal activities in foreign countries, possibly even terrorism. Delete the emails immediately and do not respond to them.
