The school board currently has $750,000 allocated for the renovation of Martin Elementary School.

The building and ground committee yesterday voted to make steps one and two the highest priority with bidding and bid out steps three and four as alternates.

If approved by the full school board and if all bids are accepted to start the project, work could get underway as early as when this school year is complete.

Also, the committee approved to send to the full board of education a bid of $4,891 for new benches and trash cans for Martin Elementary School. It consists of 12 coated steel benches and once coated steel trash can under the awning in the parent pick up area. Each bench will be eight feet long. The benches and trash can will be installed using concrete wedge anchors drilled into the sidewalk and run directly along the side of the building the full length of the awning. There will be nine benches between the double doors and the garden area, and the trash can and three additional benches will be installed between the double doors and the front parking lot so students will have a place to sit while waiting to be picked up.
