BLOOMQUIST’S FATAL PLANE CRASH DEEMED SUICIDE

According to a report by WBIR, The National Transportation Safety Board concluded that the August 16, 2024, plane crash that killed dirt track racing legend Scott Bloomquist was a suicide. Bloomquist, a 60-year-old Hall of Fame Dirt Super Late Model driver, crashed a single-engine Piper J3 into a barn on his family farm in Mooresburg, Tennessee, near Highway 31, around 7:50 a.m.
The plane caught fire, and Bloomquist, the sole occupant, died from blunt force injuries. A witness reported that Bloomquist, aware of a serious heart condition, expressed his intent to avoid dying in a hospital and planned to crash the plane.
The Hawkins County Grand Jury, after hearing this testimony, confirmed the cause of death as suicide on October 1, 2024.
