BOND REDUCTION DENIED IN RAPE CASE

A Cumberland County man appeared in criminal court this morning (Monday, October 16, 2017) for a motion to reduce his bond on a charge of aggravated statutory rape. Court officials say 38-year-old William Eblen Daugherty of Crossville was indicted on the charge last month. According to the indictment, Daugherty allegedly had sexual relations with a minor under the age of 18 in July of this year. At the time of his arrest, Daugherty was processed into the Cumberland County jail and placed under a $50,000 bond. In court today, Judge Gary McKenzie denied the motion to reduce Daugherty’s bond.
