Cumberland County medics and deputies responded to the 3300 block of Warpath Drive in Lake Tansi after a man was hit by a tree while an area of land was being cleared. The report from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department states deputies arrived on the scene and found 43-year-old Frank Sapp on the ground on the edge of the road by a truck. Sapp sustained substantial injuries to his head. A co-worker was attempting CPR until officers arrived who took over in the life saving effort. The co-worker told officers Sapp was standing by a truck on the far side of the road from where they were clearing a lot. That is when a tree on the land being cleared fell across the road and hit Sapp in the head. Sapp was transported to Cumberland Medical Center for treatment of critical injuries and later in the day passed away.
