ROANE COUNTY SCHOOLS CLOSED JAN 29-31 BECAUSE OF FLU

The Roane County School System said this morning because of a high percentage of student, staff, and bus driver absences from the flu, schools will be closed tomorrow (Wednesday, January 29, 2020) through Friday, January 31, 2020. The closing will give maintenance and custodians in the Roane County School System time to do a thorough cleaning and disinfect the classrooms and other areas of each school.

The Roane County School System will allow games to be played tonight (Tuesday, January 28, 2020). After tonight, high school games will be cancelled the rest of the week. Middle school teams in Roane County will play in their tournament games; those games will be allowed throughout the rest of this week. The sectional middle school tournament at Harriman High School will go on as scheduled beginning Saturday morning.

105.7 News spoke with Cumberland County school officials around noon today who say attendance in the system currently stands at 93 percent so schools will remain operating as normal.
