Deputies and medics in Cumberland County recently went to the scene of a vehicle accident on Virgil Smith Road at Benton Dixon Drive.

Officers arrived to see a blue Chevy truck in a ditch.

Authorities encountered the driver, 66-year-old Sammy Ray Brown of Crossville.

The arrest report states deputies smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from Brown.

Deputies say Brown failed to complete a field sobriety test.

Officers found a loaded Smith and Wesson .357 magnum handgun on the passenger seat of the Chevy.

Brown was arrested for DUI, resisting arrest, and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.
