BURGLARY REPORTED ON PLATEAU ROAD

Monday morning, Cumberland County deputies responded to the 6900 block of Plateau Road for a report of two men wearing masks who had forced entry into a home. When officers responded, the intruders had already been gone about fifteen minutes.

The resident stated a friend had dropped by before work and they were talking in the bedroom when they heard a loud noise. The friend opened the door and saw the intruders – one of whom was wielding a machete – and pulled the door shut again, holding on to the knob. Both men stayed put until the intruders left.

When they emerged, they noticed the flat-screen television had been knocked over and broken; and two laptop computers had been taken, along with an old cell phone. Also missing was a heart-shaped jewelry box containing $800 in U.S. currency.

There are no suspects at this time, but an investigation is underway.
