CERVANTES ARRESTED AFTER CLAIMING “TREES TRANSFORMED INTO PEOPLE”

Cumberland County deputies responded Friday to Cumberland Medical Center in response to an individual in the parking lot talking to trees.

Officers encountered 38-year-old Jose Agusto Vargas Cervantes of Washington, Indiana.

He was reportedly disoriented and could not tell deputies what state he was in or how he got to the hospital.

Cervantes claimed the trees had transformed into people, then walked away.

The arrest report states Cervantes admitted to drinking about a case of beer.

Deputies charged Cervantes with public intoxication by appearing in a place under the influence of a controlled substance and/or some other intoxicating substance.
