Prosecutors have dropped charges against the two juveniles that were initially labeled as being responsible for starting Tennessee’s largest and deadliest wildfire of this century. Fourth Judicial District Attorney General Jimmy Dunn has filed an order dismissing the charges against the juveniles, according to attorney Greg Isaacs. In the press release, DA Dunn says that the fire would have spread from the Great Smoky Mountain National Park to Gatlinburg because of prevalent winds at the time. Also, because there were several ignition points, it would be impossible to tell, beyond a shadow of a doubt, which fires caused a particular death or damage to a particular structure.  Also, the DA says that the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a federal park and that the state of Tennessee has no jurisdiction there. The case involving the two juveniles, who are not from Sevier County, had been under a gag order due to the fact that they had been in juvenile court, which DA Dunn says has totally different rules.
