A one-year-old child was safely recovered early Monday morning following a high-speed vehicle pursuit that ended with the arrest of a 32-year-old Crossville man, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a domestic violence and child kidnapping call at a City Lake Road residence at approximately 12:34 a.m. on October 27, 2026. The suspect, John Julias Adams, had allegedly fled the scene with the child prior to law enforcement’s arrival.

Deputies later located Adams’ vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but he refused to pull over. The pursuit concluded on Genesis Road after deputies successfully deployed spike strips. According to the sheriff’s office, Adams resisted arrest before being taken into custody. The child was found inside the vehicle and safely recovered.

Adams is currently being held at the Cumberland County Jail on a $274,500 bond and is scheduled to make a court appearance in the Cumberland County General Sessions Court on November 2, 2026. Authorities state that the investigation is ongoing.
