CONVICTED SEX OFFENDER SENTENCED TO 5 MONTHS FOR PROBATION VOLATION IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

A convicted sex offender appeared yesterday in Cumberland County General Sessions Court facing a probation violation. The charge against 27-year-old William Dakota Stamps-Hale came from an attempted sex offender registration form violation. In court yesterday, Judge Larry Warner gave Stamps-Hale 5 months to serve at 75 percent with credit for 67 days already incarcerated and terminated the probation. Warner ordered Stamps-Hale to report to jail to start serving his time on May 28, 2020. Stamps-Hale was represented by the public defender’s office. The probation violation was filed in February 25, 2020.

Cumberland County deputies had a run-in with Stamps-Hale in the past.

In July 2019, officers came upon a car occupied by 26-year-old William Dakota Stamps-Hale in the parking lot of Liberty Market in Crab Orchard during closed business hours. A check not only revealed his license was suspended but allegedly a substance consistent with meth. Stamps-Hale was in possession of a cell phone he was not authorized to have and driving a vehicle that was not listed on his sex offender registry.

According to the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry, Stamps-Hale was placed on it after his conviction for abusive sexual contact.
