COUNTIES HIT BY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND STORMS COULD SEE DISASTER RELIEF

It’s possible that counties in the upper Cumberland Region affected by the Memorial Day Weekend severe storms could be in for federal funds. Officials with the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency seem to feel that enough damage may have been caused to declare those counties disaster areas in order to request federal aid. Certain conditions resulting from the storm’s damage must be met on a state level which officials estimate to be about $9.5 million. Certain criteria must also be met based on population. TEMA will meet with county officials this week to make that determination. The request will then go on to the federal level to determine if FEMA would step in. Those counties affected by the storms included, Cumberland, Roane, Putnam and White.
