CROSSVILLE CITY COUNCIL EXPEDITING PROPOSED RETAIL SHOPPING CENTER

The Crossville City Council is expediting the process for a proposed retail shopping center to be constructed next to Dollar Tree. Tomorrow afternoon, the council will review plans for widening a section of Old Jamestown Highway at Interstate Drive to three 12-foot lanes with curb and gutter drainage. The total cost for utility relocation, road construction, earthwork, engineering and a traffic light comes in at just over $782,000. With a 10 percent contingency added, it brings the total to just over $860,000. Officials say if the traffic light can be warranted before the construction of the Northwest Connector, the light can be included in the TDOT project and removed from the total. That would reduce the cost by $270,000.
